wanting haunting  will take place on june 20th at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. The performance will be a music set performed live by me using Ableton, an analog mixer, some synths, and a microphone. The end song will be accompanied on guitar by Liam Mulroe.

The stage design is a 9 foot tall monolith, created entirely from speakers. I will perform in front of this monolith, with equipment on the floor.

It feels significant that the working title of this performance, “wanting, haunting”, was developed unknowingly alongside an exhibition I had worked on for an architect named Nile Greenberg. We presented work that was significantly influenced by the concept of “hauntology”, which can be described as “the persistence of the past and the haunting of the present by lost or unrealized futures” (Google Ai Summary).

An agglomeration of noise and references. Callbacks to previous eras when the cracks of this paradigm weren’t visible

This has now become the primary reference point for this performance, and will serve as the entry point to what is likely going to be one of the most formative rabbit holes I will enter.
